This Science-Focused STEAMvestigation starts with a read-aloud called "The Crescent Moon" that asks the question, "Does the moon change shape?" Students use the engineering design cycle to investigate shadows and light then use new knowledge to design a mobile representing the moon's phases. Question for students: How will you convince other students that the moon stays the same shape even when it appears to look different in the sky?
