This Polygon Island Unit Challenge is delivered as a stand-alone STEAMvestigation that starts with a read-aloud called "Treehouse Challenge." Friends on a river island use the engineering design cycle to deliver an adventure style treehouse complete with elevators and slides. Elementary students are challenged to design, test, build and redesign with data until they deliver a hamster-scale adventure treehouse.
